Pre-Flight Checklist

Preparation Checklist

Just like a pre-flight walkaround, a little preparation keeps your exam on schedule and on spec. Here's exactly what to do and bring.

01

Before You Arrive

Complete MedXPress Online

Fill out the FAA MedXPress form at medxpress.faa.gov at least 48 hours before your visit. Bring your confirmation number.

Hydrate & Rest

Drink water and get a good night's sleep. Avoid caffeine for 4 hours before the exam for an accurate blood-pressure reading. A urinalysis to check for protein and glucose will be performed.

Gather Your Records

If you have a CACI condition, special issuance, or prior deferral, collect the relevant records and letters in advance.

List Your Medications

Write down every medication and dosage you take, including over-the-counter supplements. Accuracy matters for certification.

02

Bring With You

Government Photo ID

Driver's license or passport.

MedXPass Confirmation #

From your completed online application.

Current Medical Certificate

If this is a renewal, bring your existing FAA medical.

Corrective Lenses

Bring the glasses or contacts you fly with — vision is tested with them.

Special-issuance or CACI supporting documents, if applicable.
